With housing shortages worsening due to urban growth, climate pressures, and rising costs, many communities lack access to safe, affordable, and connected living. This project explores how space habitat technologies—known for their efficiency and resilience—can be adapted to create sustainable modular housing on Earth.

The goal is to create sustainable, modular housing that is affordable, connected, and adaptable—tackling overcrowding, resource limits, and infrastructure gaps through advanced space-based technologies and satellite connectivity.

DEVELOPMENT

Ideations and User Profile

The ideation process was guided by insights from the user’s housing struggles, focusing on empathy, stability, and accessibility. Visually, the design drew from futuristic mobility and off-road vehicles, blending clean lines with exposed mechanical elements. Contrasting materials balanced visual lightness with structural durability, making the concept both modern and suitable for rural Ghana.

FINAL DESIGN

Doroma Smart App

For the Doroma Smart home app, i wanted to create a sleek design that felt homey, resulting in higher app retention and usage. the widget style home screen allows for simplistic and easy-to-access summaries of any current & past activities at the home. Users can access information such as CCTV footage, room temp, WIFI, and so on.

AI integration

With the AI being implemented into most mobile systems, users also have access to An AI assistant, which acts as a personal butler and information hub for all smart home concerns. live events can also be shown
